At the prospect of premature burial maybe the
only way to understand his irrational fear is to
experience it …
Drawing on elements of Victorian horror,
fairground rides and immersive film, The Divine
Edgar is a short, sharp assault on the senses.
One at a time, the ‘departed’ are led underground
by lamplight and towards a large coffin – the
headstone is that of Edgar Allan Poe, carved with
gargoyles and the dates of his birth and death.
The ‘guide’ then prises open the coffin lid and
beckons the viewer to climb inside…where the
real show begins!

I will admit I was a little nervous about this trip into the unknown, and it was my first experience of anything to do with the fierce festival, but what a trip! The only thing I could say when I re-entered the land of the living was WOW!

It’s an experience I am glad I took the opportunity to try.

Well done to all
